Artemy Magun is Professor of Democratic Theory and Chair of the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the European University at Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
Artemy Magun was born in Leningrad in 1974 to a family of social scientists (and 1960s Communards). He studied in Moscow at School #57 and in the Psychology Department at MGU, later pursued lengthy political philosophy studies in the USA and France, and finally returned to his native city to teach at the EUSP and clarify the meaning of world events in Russian.
PhD degrees from the University of Michigan and the University of Strasbourg. Based on his dissertations at these institutions, Dr. Magun wrote his book Negative Revolution: On Deconstruction of the Political Subject, which was published both in Russian and French, and will soon come out in English.
